De Leo came with a burst of speed in the stretch, wore down Marston Moor and, got up in the closing strides. He was in a pocket until on the turn Into the homestretch, where he came through next to the inside rail. Helen Tarwater and Amahagga fought it out for second place and Miller outrode Croghan. Amahagga made up considerable ground. Marston Moor tired in the stretch run. Tholan was high in flesh and quit badly after displaying early speed. Fuego ran a bad race. Clifton Forge held his field safe all the way and was never in trouble, set his own pace and won in a canter. Handmore ran well, but could not concede the weight to the winner. Blue Darter -was cut off when turning into the homestretch. He finished very fast and would have been second but for the mishap. The first three were the only real contenders. Briers and Tom Klngsley fought it out for second, place and the former stayed the best. Tom Kingsley ran well throughout. Nellie Forest had a rough trip, but closed up strongly when she secured clear sailing. Prism showed but scant speed. Swan Dance tired badly after displaying a lot of speed. Griffiths was best, went to the front after racing Trocadero into submission and came away as his rider pleased. G. W. W. ran a good race and showed great improvement. He was tiring at the end, but was easily the best of the others. Malay continues to improve and is about due to win. Trocadero showed speed, but was probably short.
