Ringwalt displayed improvement and speed, was vigorously ridden and stood punishment gamely. Rhyme and Reason ran in much improved form under a weak ride, was taken back at the stretch entry for no apparent reason, then came fast at the end. Quaker Girl did her best and finished resolutely. Scalper, a great, big, long-striding colt, began slowly, but came with great speed in the stretch and won drawing away. Ingolthrift was in close quarters next to the rail when Scalper bore in on him and ran a good race. Tootsey Mack showed speed, but Scalper bumped her in the stretch battle and she was thrown out of her stride. Turrando had no mishaps. Overweights — Scalper, 4 pounds. Scalper, show, S to .5. Miss Mae Day was well away in her stride and carefully rated behind to the stretch, then came on and won out in a hard drive. Maud Gonne waited behind Miss Mae Day to the three-eighths and joined issue in the stretch. Booker and Troxler made no mistakes and in a fair trial Miss Mae Day outstayed her and was holding her own at the end. Poseur set a fast pace and tired. The others were not contenders.
