Frayling. Went to post at 2:30. At post 1 minute. Start fair. Won driving; second easily. : Sailor Knot before the race appeared to be the only properly shod horse in the race, being : supplied with sharp toe tips, which enabled him to stride freely on the slippery going, drew up in the stretch and outlasted a much superior colt in Tomcod. The latter was slipping , and sprawling throughout and tiring at the end, but was probably much the best. Sir Walt also suffered from improper shoeing and his smoothly worn plates were ill-adapted to the track conditions. His form was the poorest he has thus far shown. Flower, a good-look- ] ing filly that has shown fast recent trials, was all at sea. Fair Order, a big, ungainly, unconditioned colt, was probably only out for exercise. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won in a canter; second easily. Walter Cleary far outclassed his opposition and, except at the Liverpool, where he always bore out, losing many lengths, he kept a straight course and decisively outjumped and outpaced the only serious contender in Tankard, coming home alone in the last time around. Tankard kept the winner close company for nine furlongs of the journey, snowing good speed and was much the best of the others. Lord Radnor went the journey in improved style and came along fast at the end, scoring a lucky third. May Harrisons early effort to keep pace with the leaders found her weary at the finish. Highbee made a poor showing. Gascar trailed far in the rear for the greater part of the race, but, fencing beautifully and apparently with plenty of reserve speed, closed up very fast when too late, but sustained an unlucky fall. Bon Mot got away well and trailed the front bunch close up and under a strong pull to the half, where he was suddenly sent along to overtake the leader and closing a tremendous, gap, wore Himself down in the stretch, just getting up in the last stride, was much the best and is a great little horse now. Himself, particularly favored by the going, forced the pace from the start easily, shaking off Daisy Green on the backstretch and taking a long lead came very near making a runaway race of it. Setauket got away slowly and closed an early gap with surprising suddenness, held on gamely throughout and ran an extra good race at the weights. Andy Williams, under a hard drive from the start, could never get into a contending position. Satire was always outpaced and never dangerous. Daisy Green had scant chance at the weight and after showing a lot of speed for five furlongs quit all over. Scratched— 10283sOom Paul, 126; 4025SDuke of Kendal, 115; 38674 Ahumada, 112. Possession is a high-class filly on this track and today for the first time justice was done to her speed in the shape of an adequate rider. She is a very slow beginner, got away last and received the mud from the entire field for a furlong before she commenced to pass them one by one with an amazing display of speed. Running on the extreme outside throughout, she kept coming in the stretch like a cyclone, notwithstanding the gap she closed before being straightened for home. Monsoon unexpectedly failed to keep up after breaking in the lead, but gradually moved up and a furlong out appeared like having a winning lead, but succumbed to the winners tremendous rush at the end. Semitic ran a game race and was going very fast at the end. Memoriam recovered her speed suddenly and practically-forced the pace for the first half, holding on gamely in the long stretch drive. Cyprienne was a prominent contender, showing in front when turning for home, but failed to stay. Glad Smiles went unexpectedly well. Turquoise Blue is a beautiful filly that will surely be heard from later on. Komombo, the sister to Hatasoo, is a reported crack-erjack. Pirouette ran poorly. The Regent tenaciously stuck to second place and although momentarily passed by Carroll D. on the far turn he got up again in a game way in the stretch, Carroll D. was ridden in the rough way always practiced by Dalys ap , ; ; : : : , ] prentices, and on the first turn was whipped across Postmaster Bailey knocking him to his knees. His rider managed to throw away second position after apparently having it as good as won. King Carter was closing up well at the end and ran a steady race. Beverly made up considerable ground. Tristesse ran into the lead directly after the start, won all the way and was much the best. Albany Girl raced into second position at the half and was as much the best of the others, ran in surprisingly improved form and should win at an early date. Nuit Blanche has been working well and was making up ground fast at the end. Thoughtless closed a big gap from a bad start and finished fast on her own courage. Show Girl went well.
