Clifton Boy showed the most speed throughout and set his own pace, but had to be shaken up at the end to stall off James F. The latter began slowly and did not get to going well until in the last lurlong. Blackmore was tiring at the end and almost lost third place. Model Monarch came wide at the turn into the homestretch and came again at the end under punishment. Scratched— 39560 Far Rockaway, 113; 40243 Ravelment, 101; 402682President, S6. Silver Dream was best of an indifferent field and always held the others safe. False Entry was as good as left at the post and might have won with an even start, closed a big gap and finished very fast. Frank Somers made up much ground and then tired. Benckart and Neeburban fought it out all the way and Benckart swerved over against Neeburban just inside the eighth post. McDonald being too weak to keep him straight. This had no bearing on the result as Benckart was going away at the time. Neeburban ran a good race throughout. Colonel Anderson went wide at the turn for home, losing ground. Firing Line and Flora Bright collided at the start and both were left. Snare quit badly. Scratched— 40247Nellie Bawn, 103. , Corrected weights — Firing Line, 111. Benckart, show, 1 to 2. Belle Dodson and Toomany hooked up together at the head of the stretch and fought it out all the way, the former outgaming the latter. Toomany ran to his best form and had no mishaps. Paul was of little assistance to Two Penny. Probable tired, as did Judge Luthers. The latter is a counterfeit. Scratched— 40171A11 Good, 107. Belle Dodson, show, out. Toomany, show, evens. The latter was wearing the winner down at the end, but Daly had waited too long with him. Rustic Girl ran her race. Arachne-ran a dull race and met with no mishaps. Flaneur was best, raced Illuminate into subjection and came away as his rider pleased. Tommy Hill came fast in the last quarter and outgamed Illuminate. The latter showed speed and improvement, but tired from his early efforts. Wallabout ran a good race and is getting into condition. Scratched — 40247 Incandescent, 108; 40221 Nellie Forest, 103.
