Secretary Clark gives the following notice: "Badges issued for the meeting of July 20— ■ August 1, and thereafter, are for use during * the remainder of the racing season at the Hawthorne course. The necessary coupon books for each succeeding meeting will be duly issued. Holders of season badges are requested to exercise due precaution in the preservation of both badges and coupon books." Entries for the first days racing of the Hawthorne summer meeting next Monday close today. The steeplechase handicap closed Thursday and the weights will be announced today. The 00 handicap, which will be run on Tuesday, closes today and a representative of the Chicago Jockey Club will be at "Washington Park to accommodate owners who wish to make entries to It as well as Mondays purses. S. W. Streett will ship the three-year-old filly Birch Broom to Brighton Beach next Sunday to start in the Oaks there, which Is carded for decision July 23. J. F. Schorr will ship his string of horses including Gold Bell and Esherin, to Saratoga at the conclusion of the Washington Park meeting. Bensonhurst, Mingore and Martius will be turned over to J. Arthur and raced on the local tracks. H. N. McTyeire will ship six horses, including Charley Thompson to Fort Erie next Monday. Jockeys Wonderly, Henry and Adklns were given permission to ride today and will have mounts in the different races. Jockey Winkfield, who is under contract to P. Although he ; will absent himself for probably several months he will still be under contract to Mr. Dunne. The latter thought it would be advantageous to Winkfield to attach himself to a ;big stable where he could be frequently furnished with mounts at weights ttiat he ■ can make comfortably. T. C. McDowells Allan-a-Dale, which has been manifesting symptoms of ailment since his last start and was reported to have fully recovered, is now again in a bad way. Thursday the veterinary who has been attending him stated to the owner that the horse was suffering from catarrhal fever and also a slight attack of pneumonia, his temperature being 106 at that time. The same high temperature prevailed yesterday morning, but in the evening it had abated somewhat and only registered 104. Mr. McDowell, when asked concerning the horse yesterday, stated that he held high hopes for his recovery, and although the ailment was of a serious nature he did not think there was any immediate danger. In conclusion he remarked: "It would be rather hard on me to lose Allan so soon after having lost Advantage." S. G. Morton will ship Hoodwink and several others to Brighton Beach today to be raced there and at the coming Saratoga meeting. J. C. Yeager will ship his hbrses Waswift, Elsie L., Jane Holly, Dungannon and Car-melita to Saratoga, where they will be raced until the close and then return to Chicago.
