Burnie Burnton moved up fast in the last quarter and catching Scorpio when a hundred yards from home outstayed him in the closing strides andwas going away at the end. The latter showed much speed, but hung palpably when challenged by the winner. Vestry finished going fast. Nellie Waddell was well beaten when a furlong out. Wainamoinen appeared unable to extend herself freely in the somewhat sticky going. Never Fret showed much early speed, but faded away opposite the last eighth post. Sweetie took kindly to the going and, showing much speed, ran Henry Luehrmann Jr. into early submission. In the final sixteenth Helgesen eased up on her, but Rainland coming with a rush in the closing strides caused him to drive her out sharply. Rainland closed up ground rapidly in the last eighth and finished with determination. Ehvood showed early speed, but tired fast in the last eighth. Schwalbe showed her usual turn of speed, but faltered palpably in the final sixteenth. Hoodwink was under keen punishment all through the last .quarter. The latter closed up ground rapidly in the final quarter and was fast wearing down the winner in the closing strides. Fading Light fell away beaten when turning for home.
