Winner B. f, by Atheling Galliana trained by F. M. Kelly. Went to post at 2:05. At post 4 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second the same. Athlana, lightly weighted and running in remarkably improved form, was lucky at the start and, after being compelled to relinquish her .lead to Lady Amelia around the far turn and into the stretch, finally wore her down at the end, winning a game race. Ulyria got away well and steadily gained in the long stretch run and but for a weak and inefficient finish would have won. Lady Amelia got away very badly and raced quickly around the field into the lead, which she held to the final sixteenth, tiring after her early trying effort Demurrer held on steadily in a forward position throughout and finished well up. Dolly Spanker tired in the final drive and may have been short. Ingold, after showing a brilliant burst of early speed, unexpectedly failed to stay. Sweet Gretchen, away very badly, steadily unproved her position. Astarita was nearly left and unable to raise a respectable gallop, probably owing to recent long-distance work. All Gold, in rare form and superbly ridden, won out after a long and terrific stretch drive after following the early pacemaker closely from the start. Nevermore, away badly, quickly raced into a contending position, closing up fast and gamely in the stretch run and was best. Meistersinger was always a prominent contender ,and although he fell away in the final drive, yet finished sufficiently close up to make his race unusually good. Highlander, very sore, ran a bad race for him. Trepan closed up considerable ground on the far turn and held his own well to the end. Stroller is sore and unfit for racing on a hard and fast track, but will reverse this running in mud. Won easily; second driving. Juvenal Maxim indulged Marjoram with the lead to the stretch, where he drew to the front and easily held sway to the end. Divination fell in directly behind the compact bunch of leaders to the stretch and came on the outside, getting up in the last stride for second place and going very fast. Race King held a prominent position throughout and when a furlong out was on nearly even terms with the winner, tiring slightly, but putting up a very game finish at the weights. Molinos, after trailing his field, closed up a big gap in the stretch. Marjoram failed to stay after forcing the pace for half the journey and is strictly a mudlark. Dick Turpin is evidently a non-stayer, especially among this kind. Won handily; second easily. Wild Thyme attended the pacemaker closely to the stretch, where she closed up with a rush and won going away after gamely withstanding a strong challenge from Embarrassment. The latter ran as if short, tiring unexpectedly right at the end after running lapped on the winner throughout the long stretch. Ahumada quickly jumped ito a long lead, which he failed to sustain in the closing drive, but ran a good race for him and is partial to mud. Lord Badge, very badly handled and repeatedly pulling up in the early running, was going fast at the end. Warranted trailed throughout and ran a poor race for him. Scotch Plume came from a long way back at the end and, finishing with a rush, 3ust got up in the last stride to win a lucky race. Belle of Belle Meade, on the inside, practically forced the pace throughout and appeared to be winning and was caught napping at the end. Oriskany, a keen contender from the start, only failed in the last few strides, swerving all over the course under a bad ride. Eagle finished running faster than everything at the end. Escobar finished close up. Mordella was in behind horses all through the long stretch and never got clear sailing until too late. Atwood made up a lot of ground after getting away poorly. Hopeful Miss failed to run up to her recent fast work in private and can do better, particularly in soft going. Scratched 41879 Aqua, 100. Overweights Oriskany, 3 pounds; Sea Gate, 2; Mali, 1. Julia M. followed Agnes Brennan closely from the start and finally wore her down at the end under Redferns vigorous finish. Agnes Brennan was best, made the running throughout and was poorly ridden and frequently interfered with by the riderless Jasper, which ran alongside of her. She appeared to be winning easily and only lost through Farleys fumbling the lines in the last few jumps. Conkling, suddenly improved, put up a good stretch run and scored a lucky third. Second Sight, evidently a superior colt, finished running faster than everything and will reverse the running later on and received a bad ride. Yo San was outpaced from the start and quit all over in the stretch run. Scratched 42424 Bob Murphy, 107; 42330 Great Crossing, 106; 42312 Emergency, 103; 39770 E. C. Runte, 102.
