Judge broke running and immediately went to the front, widened the gap as the raci progressed to the stretch, where he finished in a canter. Avenger was outrun while going up the backstretch and in close quarters, losing his good early position, but moved up on the far turn and when straightened for home finished with a phenomenal rush. Wini-freda was a prominent contender almost throughout and ran a fast and game race. Miss Ringlets got away poorly, made up ground rapidly and, after looming up on the stretch turn, unexpectedly fell away. Miss May Bowdish was badly ridden, but showed a fine burst of speed for five furlongs. Judge, show, 1 to 3. Avenger, show, 1 to 3. Winifreda, show, evens. Nervator ran as if he outclassed his field and, except for a brief interval, when he relinquished the lead to Tower of Candles, made his own running throughout and was cantering at the end. Mocorito, next to the rail where deep going prevailed and closely hemmed in in the early running, closed up fast in the stretch run. Fort Wayne, badly handled and beginning slowly, improved his position to the stretch, where he closed up with a belated rush and was probably second best. Matt Hogan, away fiatfooted, picked up his field rapidly after he got into his stride and finished a fast going fourth. Muresca, strictly a mudlark, found the going too dry. Tower of Candles showed her usual brilliant speed, but t failed to stay. Pickaway and Captivate were both outclassed here. The Cure, shuffled back at the start, held on steadily and well up and made good with a superior stretch run. Lustig, a good looker, gave evidence of speed and stamina and but for an early effort to overhaul the winner might have been second. Atlantico closed a tremendous gap. Libbie Candid finished fast and close up. Instructor was quickly sent after the flying leader and held second place for a brief interval on the far turn, but was evidently short, as he tired badly in the final drive. The Hawaiian is improving. Ebony got away badly and was probably handicapped by the soft going. Whoa Bill was knocked out of the race and finished pulling ap. Scratchea 43141 Flo Manola, 107. H. L. Fossil got away in the lead and decisively outpaced and outstayed his field and is a good horse under light weight. Warte Nicht steadily improved his position and finished with a meteoric rush, ran a high-class race and liked the soft going. Princess Titania, next to the rail in the deep going, was more or less impeded to the stretch, where she began closing up fast and got third place in the last stride and is in grand form. Iredeus tired in the stretch run after running lapped on Fossil almost throughout and seemed to have been caught napping for second place, as Martin eased him slightly at the end when he saw he could not beat the leader. Martinmas had a rough journey and came from a long way back at the end. Saintly made up ground from start to finish and is a genuinely improved horse. Divina, nearly left, finished running faster than her field. San Nicholas failed to stay and could never get into serious contention. Hagerdon went a fast six furlongs before he retired. Evea G. had no chance at the start. John A. Scott failed to stay. Arabo had no chance. Fossil, show, 2 to 1. Warte Nicht, show, 2 to 1. Princess Titania, show, evens. Chub ?s more than a useful horse that lias matured lately, kept well within striking distance of the pacemaker and made good with a great stretch run, is a genuine stayer and can beat good ones. Position was excessively used in the early running and, tiring right at the end, swerved across the course in the last sixteenth. Properly rated, he would probably have won. The Fretter failed to stay after helping to force the pace, although he stuck gamely to his work in the closing drive. Expedient was handicapped by the going, which was quite wet by this time, but finished with his usual whirlwind rush. Horatius followed Eonic closely for the first mile and passed her in the last furlong, winning with something in reserve. The wet going was against him and he ran, a high-class race under adverse conditions and was much the best. Eonic made the running hard held to the stretch, where she tired, but finished a game second on a track that she liked. Vet-erano, after trailing his field for seven furlongs, commenced to move up rapidly and at the end was going like a cyclone. Dupont, unable to stride freely in the now muddy going and conceding too much weight, was never able to get into serious contention. Nigrette fel! away after going a good seven furlongs.
