FUTURITY NOMINATIONS MAY TOTAL 900. New York, January 5. With the breeding sections of the south and west still to be heard from, about 630 entries have been received for the Futurity of 1908. The thtrles closed Tuesday, aud all should be in within a Uay or two. It is likely that the total will reach Jl0 or more. This will be far behind high water mark, but there has been a gradual decrease in late years owing to the prevalence of produce stakes. When the Futurity was first run it had a clear field, and the value of the stake, which is based largely on the number of entries received, reached 7,000 in the third year of its running. But of late years breeders have divided their entries between tiie several produce stakes and the Futurity value has suffered in consequence, but It mill remains the .most valuable by long odds. Sachem, Thomas Clydes jumper, racing in England, is still in a winning mood. At Windsor during Christmas week he won the principal hurdle race of the meeting.
