Affery; away forwardly. was restrained for the first quarter, but shot into a commanding lead thereafter and, after being under a mild drive in the stretch, lasted well and won with plenty left. St. Bonnie ran well and stood a hard drive gamely through the last quarter. Raining Leaves had a rough trip for the first half and was cut off in the stretch, but finished fast. Augur suffered from crowding on the "first turn, but moved up fast under hard urging and finished gamely. Henry O. dropped back after going a half, seemingly badly beaten, but came again gamely and outfinished Colonist. The latter ran a good race for three-quarters. Extol had no mishaps. Creole Girl, speedy lucky and clear of interference, flashed into a long lead quickly and, under vigorous handling, held on Veil in a straight line and put up a good performance. Miss Hynes. also lucky, put up a strenuous chase stood a hard drive gamely and was wearing the winner down at the end. Jack Hardy, after going 1 hit wide, closed a big gap from a slow beginning and was going fast at the end. Beinay and Bertmont, bavin- an insidra position at the start, were caught in a jam and ran surprisingly well. Guiding Star, hard ridden, kept within striking distance of Stoncr Hill to the stretch, where he forged Into n slight lead. but was put to a hard drive to outstay Black Put. The latter, best at the weights, came with a grand rush and momentarily headed Guiding Star, but Spears was not equal to putting up a strong finish and suffered defeat by ONeills suierior riding. Stoncr Hill showed much speed, but was thoroughly done for in the last furlong and was slightly impeded by Black Pat. but not cnougli to cut much figure in the result. Bishop Weed wore down Daniel C. after going a half mile and seemed a certain winner in the stretch, but tired suddenly In the last sixteenth. McWilliams was a sufferer from Interference and had scant chance, but finished resolutely. Lee King ran a fairly good race. Daniel C, given a rough ride, tired badly and interfered with several of the horses. Athena was badly ridden and responsible for much crowding. Galmeda found the distance too far. Overweights Daniel C, 4 pounds.
