ROUGH RIDING RESPONSIBLE FOR MISHAPS. Two Boys Are Injured at Crescent Park Bertmont Lowers 3 1-2 Furlongs Track Record. New Orleans, La., January 25. W. II, Snyders good two-year-old colt Bertmont, forced out by De. Oro. S. T. Whites recent purchase from Newton Bcuuiugton, ran three and one-half furlongs in 4!s in the third race at Crescent Iark this afternoon, setting a new track record. The best previous lime here was 424,, made by Lady Greenwood in IDOL Big fields and rough riding caused mishaps today. Ill the opening race jockey Mangus. riding Sachem, was crowded into the fence and had his leg severely bruised, causing his cancelation of further engagements during the afternoon. Jockey Dickson, on Raining Leaves in the second race, was caught in a bad jam on the lower turn. His mount stumbled, causing him to go over the horses head. He sustained a dislocated shoulder by the fall. Dennison, on Mint Leaf, was crowded just as the field was dispatched in the fifth race and fell off, but es-ced unhurt. After the finish of the third race, jockey Martin, rider of De Oro, lodged a claim of foul against L. Smith on Bertmont, claiming impediment in the final drive. The judges did not think the interference sufficient to warrant a disuualineation.
