Dan Collins showed marked Improvement, moved into a contending position on the turn and, coming fast in the stretch, won going away. Mazapan opened a big lead early in the race, and appeared the winner, but tired In the stretch drive. Happy Lad went well throughout. My Surprise ran disappointingly. Sailna, showing surprising form, followed Plnta closely to the stretch and, pas-sing her, gamely withstood a challenge from Water Fox. The latter also ran In Improved form and easily disposed of Plnta in the stretch. Pinta showed the most early speed, but failed to stay the route. Bailey ran a fairly good race. The Roustabout came fast through the stretch, but his move was too late to lie effective. Smithy Kane showed his customary early speed and quit, as usual. The latter ran well for three-quarters, but tired in the stretch. Colonel Bronston was in prominent early contention with the winner, but failed to stay. Preservator finished well.
