ROYAL LADY LOSES RIDER IN STAKE RACE. Humming Bee Bumps Into Her and Unseats Garner Starter Dades Work Is Applauded, Salem, N. H., July 9. Jockey Garner was thrown from Royal Lady in the fourth race at Rockingham Park today, but sustained nothing worse than a severe shaking up. It was in the feature race, the Charmlngfare of ,000 for two-year-old fillies at five furlongs. Only three went to the post and right after the start Humming Bee bumped into Royal Lady, throwing her off her stride and unseating Garner. The boy alighted on his feet and hands and was able to ride in the race following. Humming Bee came on and won by five lengths from Gleeful, her stable companion. Royal Lady was wild after unseating her rider. She ran both ways of the track and jumped over the fence separating the straightaway from the main course and was only captured when she stopped completely exhausted. Much to the surprise of every body Garner, failed to make a claim of foul against the winner. It is not often that a start brings applause from race-goers, but the start in the third race today did. The race was at a mile and a furlong and the start was directly in front of the stand. Starter Dade got the six horses in perfect alignment and then sprung the barrier. They sprang away as one horse and tlie start was so perfect that it evoked considerable applause. John A. Drake left here for Montana Saturday aud Andrew Miller, president of the New England Breeders Club, has gone to New York for a couple of days. C. T. Hcnshall, Morris Welch and Abe Garson have arrived at Rockingham Park with their strings.
