Tipping, away poorly on the inside, worked gradually through the big field, closing up at the end with a phenomenal rush and winning going away. Sir Russell, excessively urged in the early running, sot into the lead and came away like the winner in the stretch, but succumled right at the end. Water Dog also suffered at the start, but closed up quickly and held a forward position to the stretch, where he held on well. General Haley ran prominently for seven furlongs, tiring badly right at the end. Society Bud was a forward and game contender for six furlongs and then retired. Court Martial was never dangerous and can do better. Charlatan wants a longer route and mud. Benevolent made the early running and for six furlongs was a good horse. Conville, from a fair start, was reserved patiently in a rear position for three furlongs, then moved up and, midway of the stretch, suddenly caught and passed the leader, coining away with plenty in reserve and is a good colt. Purslane ran in forward pursuit of the pacemaker, overhauling him right at the end and finishing a fast going second. Horace E. outbroke and outpaced the others to the stretch, where he lired very badly as if short. Cliaseaway, on the inside and away slowly and shut off, closed a big gap and was going gamely at the end under punishment. Redgaimtlet suffered from crowding at the start and came fast from the rear in an extra good effort. Sir William. Johnson showed brilliant early speed, but tired in the last quarter and is palpably short. Puissant is a good looker and finished well. Kiamesha, hard held, simply indulged Warning with the lead to the stretch, where she came along and won easing up and is in grand form. Johnstown, trailing and apparently badly outpaced for six fur-iongs, finished with a sensational stretch sprint and ran like a coming good one. Entree, badly shut off on the far turn, came again with a belated rush and got up in the last stride for third place, but pulled up sore. Runnels was skillfully reserved in close attendance on the leaders for seven furlongs, dashed to the front on the last turn and won as his rider pleased. Lancastrian, luckily placed, moved up at the half into a fast going second and momentarily menacing the winner in the stretch. Sonoma Belle steadily improved her position from an indifferent start into a good third. Holscher was in forward contention for a half mile and then tired as if short. Embarrassment got away poorly and was badly messed about, but closed a considerable gap. Leila, nearly left, made up a lot of ground. Ocean Spray, shuttled to the rear on the first turn, made up ten lengths on the leaders in a good effort. Edith James showed early speed, but tailed to stay. Fish Hawk ran prominently to the last turn, where he fell back and then came again at the end. Beggar Maid, highly tried, ran prominently, but could never get within-striking distance of the first three. Suada, on the inside and a slow beginner, ran in close quarters in the early running and finished fast, but can do better.
