The Mate, running In suddenly improved form, gained steadily in the last half and, finishing fast, wore down Myrrh. The latter, weakly ridden in the closing drive, ran a good race and, with better handling, would have been second. Pacifico finished fast. Royal Legend tired badly after going three-quarters. Boserrian. away well, showed the most early speed, but was over-confidently ridden near the end and was forced to suffer defeat. Elec1rlne ran a good race, bnt tired after going a half. Bushthorpe closed up some ground near the end. All Ablaze ran a bad race ami showed scant speed. Terns Rod, best handled, was restrained for the first three-quarters, took the lead with a rush !n the stretch, held on well in the final drive and lasted just long enough. Coruscate trailed far back and would have won in a few more strides. Miss Doyle was badly ridden and suffered much Interference, but ran well and, under more capable handling, would have won. Dunning showed the most early speed, but blundered repeatedly and was excessively used In the early stages and tired, but was probably best. Profitable ran in improved form and was close up throughout, but blundered badly at the last jump and threw his rider, was remounted and, finishing, got third money. Mayor Johnson began slowly and was hard ridden in the early stages to keep up, but finished fast and would have won at a longer distance. Minnie Johnson showed her customary high order of early speed and stayed well In the final drive. Lacene ran poorly. Wool Soap put up a good performance. Frank Bill had no mishaps and showed scant speed.: Oak Grove, awiy poorly and badly handled, was never a contender. Weberfields ran away three-quarters before the start. The latter had a lcugu trip and was poorly handled. Bazll closed a big gap. Belltoono showed speed, bnt tired badly In the last quarter.
