HOW FOUNTAINBLUE GOT HIS NAME. "Fountainblue got his name from a never-ceasing spring on my farm near Harrodsburg in Mercer county, Kentucky," explained Fred A. Forsythe, who bred and sold the Oddfellow colt to James B. Brady, shortly after the Jockey Club declined to permit the new owner to change the two-year-olds name. "The name was given to the spring by the Indians long before Daniel Boone entered the dark and bloody ground. The water of the spring is blue and It issues forth steadily and fountain-like."
