Annie Berry was off on the outside and outrun in the early stages arid had to be hard ridden In the first quarter to keep up; moved up with a rush on the extreme outside when she got settled in her stride and, after racing Baby -Willie and Cautrome into defeat, had enough left to stall off Mrs. Annies challenge. The latter began slowly,- but closed a big gap and finished fast. Sonnet caught Baby Willie tiring end outlasted her .in the final, drive. The latter ran well and should win soon. Coujuress was crowded against the inside fence on the backslretch arid went to her knees. Cantrome and Chsithyrii showd speed; Overweights Princess Royal, 2 pounds. Sartor Rcsarlur. set a fast pace and fenced well, but tired in the last turn, of the field and crossed over in front of Sam Parmer at the last jump and kept carrying him toward the outside fence in the stretch run. Sam Parmer ran a good race, was wearing the winner down at the end and would have won. anyhow, In a few more strides. Little Wally was a distant third. Wilkey and Berv Waddell unseated their riders at the first Jump and Manzano his at the eighth Jump, while Wool Dealer fell at the tenth. Cigarllghter recovered his speed suddenly, met with sharp interference on the first turn and again on the backstretch, where he was forced back to last place, worked his way up on the outside on the far turn and, finishing fast, outstayed Cholk Hedrick in the final drive. The latter showed a rare turn of speed and set a terrific pace for six furlongs and held on gamely. Cadlchon ran a good race and closed up again in the stretch run after going wide when entering the homestretch. Goldniate was always outrun and runs Inconsistently. Manfred was rated along in behind the leaders until making the turn out of the backstretch, where he moved up on the outside and drew away without great effort in the last quarter. Miss Karl ran a good race, was in close quarters next to the inside rail on the backstretch and had to go to the outside on the far turn, but finished fast. The latter finished gamely under punishment and would have been second in another stride. Pentagon ran to his best form. Throw out Foxmeads and Nat B.s races.
