Bitter Hand, away well and showing improved form, was a close contender most of the way and put up a good performance. Henry Watterson began slowly, but saved ground most of the way and finished fast. Lightburn tired near the end. Sallie B. B. had a rough trip and can do much better. Miss Lida, evidently a good filly, ran to her best form, was away slowly and improved her position gradually and, saving ground on the stretch turn, finished fast and won with plenty in reserve. Demo, showing sudden improvement and taken wide most of the way, was a sharp contender and would have been much closer up with better handling. Voting was right there all the way and. stayed well in the final drive. Chase showed his customary early speed, but tired after going a half. Livius closed a big gap under poor handling and ran a good race. Sainrlda had a rough trip. Rothgeb tired after going a half. Overweights Voting, 5 pounds; Frank Flesher, 3. Golden Mineral forced a fast pace throughout and tired slightly in the final drive from lis early efforts. The Only Way had no mishaps and ran about to his best form. Malleable showed the most speed, but tired after going three-quarters. PInta had a rough trip and finished fast. Redcoat went .veil for three-quarters. Coruscate, much the best, was caught in the barrier and away In a tangle, trailed the others seemingly hopelessly out of It in the early stages, but moved up resolutely after going a half and, when hard rieden. responded gamely and won drawing away. El Otros ran a good race, but caused much interference when he moved up at the half-mile ground. Old Stone, away well and clear of interference, showed the most early speed, but was excessively urged, causing him to tire-near the end. Azora ran a good race and suffered from interference from El Otros, which probably kept her out of the money. Ara ran a good race under poor guidance. Alsono forced the pace, raced Western into defeat and tired in the final drive, but held on gamely. Shining Star was going fast at the end after closing a big gap from a poor beginning and would have won in a few more strides. Western tired fast after going five furlongs. La Thorpe ran a bad race. The Englishman gradually improved his position from a poor beginning and, gaining fast through the stretch drive, ot up in the final stride. Amberlta beat the barrier and showed the most speed, but lost because of poor handling, Callus almost falling off when trying to ride a strong finish. Postman, away poorly, closed a big gap, and, saving ground when turning into the stretch, finished fast. .Oberon showed, speed, but tired fast in the last quarter. Scalplock ran a good race under poor handling and lost considerable ground by being taken wide. Banposal was practically left at the post and ran a winding race. Scotch Dance pulled up very lame.
