ALEX SHIELDS TO RACE AT ASCOT PARK. Los Angeles, Cal., October 25. In a telegram sent from New York today, Alex Shields requested Manager Brooks to reserve for him at Ascot Park sixteen stalls. He says he will ship his horses here at the close of the Jamaica meeting. This will be the first venture of the Canadian turfman at Ascot Park. Two hundred horses are quartered at the local track and reservations have been made for 800 more. As only 1,000 horses can be accommodated on the grounds, and applications for stalls are coming in daily, the management will be obliged to provide quarters outside the track for the late comers.
