BENNINGS PROSPECTS FAVORABLE. The outlook is most promising for a fine meeting at the Bennings track, which opens November 16. A large number of thoroughbreds, more than ever in the history of racing in Washington, will be on hand to compete for the purses. The close proximity of the race meeting .at , the old Pimlico track, near Baltimore, has attracted many horses to the south, and many of these will take part in the Bennings meeting. Many more high class horses would undoubtedly go to Washington this fall than are at present scheduled if the management was more liberal in regard to the amount of money added to the owners sweepstakes. The Bennings track pays big dividends, to its stockholders and could well afford to give larger purses and increase its stake list. Perhaps this may all come about when the new Baltimore track is ready for action.
