Layson was well handled, moved up steadily from a poor beginning and, finishing with a rush, won draw-lug away. Jigger rated forwardly. from the start and stayed well In the final drive. Fenian showed improved form and went well throughout. Esterrc showed speed, but tired fast after going a good half. Percy Green ran si good race. Start fair. Won driving; second and third the same. Caper, ridden Wcll.laird favored by her light weight, was a sharp factor all the way and, finishing resolutely, outstayed Mary Orr. The latter showed suddenly improved form and raced the early leaders into subjection, but tired slightly near the end. Tanbark came from, a long way back in the last quarter. iOmma V. tired after going a good half and suffered from interference- Lady Emily, poorlv handled, run a" good race and was going fast at the end. Alta McDonald ran a bad race. Western appeared to be palpably short .vid tired after going a half. St. Noel poorly handled, einie. with a rush in the lsrt furlong and got up for third place in the final stride Lid-wina wasin close quarters while going down the backstretch and tired near the cud. Meadowbreeze, running to his best form and well handled, wore down the leaders steadily and, being lucky in escaping interference, finished fast and outstayed Dr. Leggo. The latter, much the best, was away poorly and badly handled, closed a big gap In the first half, but got caught in a pocket after rounding into the stretch, then came fast when clear and was unlucky to lose. Lady Henrietta showed the most early speed, but was tiring after going five furlongs. Hector showed Improved form. St. Joseph can do much better, but Carroll had hlui under restraint most of the way and put up an Incompetent linish. Lady Esther got away badly and had scant chance. Toboggan, well handled, was restrained until on the stretch turn, where he took a slight lead and, standing a drive gamely, held Whippoorwill safe through the last quarter. The latter showed sudden improvement and finished with a rush. Matador, also running In improved form and showing slight soreness, was well ud with the leaders all the way and finished gamely. Lieutenant Rice was poorly handled, suffered from slight interference and can do much better. Toppy Girl tired, as usual, after showing the most early speed. Golden Mineral, away tangled up and colliding with Dudley at the start, was lucky in escaping Interference on the first turn, ran sluggishly, although in a contending position, and barely got up in time for second place. Hadur had no mishaps and tired fast after leading for three-quarters. Water Lake ran a surprisingly good race for him. Chanlda finished with a rush. Elliott, given a bad ride and away slowly, ran a poor race and can do much better. Dudley was knocked off his stride at the start and had scant chance with his poor rider.
