Teacress, from a good start, maintained closest pursuit of the winner throughout and ran a superior race. Azelina. away poorly and badly messed about, closed a big gap, getting up in the last fstrlde for third place. Emergency tired after strenuous early pursuit of the winner. Woodsaw closed up well at the end. Firebrand was shuflled back early. Yada is in poor form evidently. Transmute showed speed for three furlongs. Expansionist, after being reserved for the first mile in close attendance on the pacemaker, drew out on the far turn and won as his rider pleased. Yaina Christy trailed in the early running within striking distance and, when moving up on the baekstretch in the last circuit of the field, lost his chance by a costly blunder at the half and closed up well afterwards. Commandant, skillfully handled and in forward contention for a mile and a half, failed to stay. Balzac made the running for a mile and then quit. Russell Sage was hopelessly out of it throughout. Zambesi, a slow beginner, lost ground at the start, but moved up rapidly on the turn and, well held together In the stretch, finally got up in the last stride of a whirlwind end rush. Waterbiry made the running by a wide gap until right at the end, where he swerved Into defeat under punishment, running all over the last furlong of the stretch and was nipped right at the end. Frank Gill, on the inside and pocketed, ran In close attendance on the eaders throughout, but could never get through and was a good horse at the end. Smiling Tom showed superior early speed, but unexpectedly failed to stay. Adoration Etumbled and nearly fell at the start, partially unseating her jockey and never had a" chance afterwards. Philander broke slowly, but quickly got lulo forward contention and drew out on the last turn into a long lead, which he maintained to the end never seriously menaced and put up a grand performance. Running Water maintained close pursuit of the leaders from the start and stood a long and remarkably game closing drive to earn second place. Angler trailed far in the rear for six furlongs and then finished with a great stretch sprint. Oxford, badly messed about and kept too long in the rear, failed to stay finally after looming up well midway of the stretch. Agile, which shows continued improvement, steadily improved his position into a close fifth. Bad News was never dangerous. Cairngorm baa developed into a non-stayer, dlsolayed brilliant early speed, but suddenly tired. Suffice, always close up, finished with a great rush and is very good. Stamping Ground, nearlv left, closed an immense gap and may- have been best. Luckett held a good position all the way and was a fast going fourth. Lindale, after being shuflled back on the turn, came along on the outside and momentarily menaced the leaders, but tired badly In the last sixteenth. Pioneer showed early speed and failed to stay, but was a contender to the last sixteenth. Consideration displayed amazing speed for seven furlongs, quitting very badly right at the end. Rappahannock came fast In the last quarter and earned a game third. Hancock was swerving badly In the last furlong or he might have been placed. Reba Stone was unable to retain her position on the far turn and was knocked about badly. Woolstartle closed a big gap. Sandy Creeker is good only in mud. Bright Boy was as good as left.
