Leonard Joe Hayman was much the best, took a long lead quickly and was never fully extended. King Henry took kindly to the going and ran a good race for him. Dekaber went well for three-quarters, but quit in the stretch drive. Suffice quit badly on the home turn after showing early speed. Purslane ran in close pursuit of the leader all the way and finished fast and gamel but failed to quite get up. Acrobat was favored by the going and ran a good race. Glenham went fairly well. Luretta, under a hard drive all the way, finished gamely, but could not get up. New York ran a fairly good race. Bowling Bridge showed the most speed for five furlongs, but failed to stay.
