AMERICAN TURF ASSOCIATION PROCEEDINGS. At the annual meeting of the American Turf Association held yesterday in Us offices in the Cable Building, all the directors were in attendance. Routine matters were the principal subjects under consideration and occupied the .members time most of the afternoon. However, several weighty turf problems were also discussed, but in an informal way. At the close of the proceedings Secretary McAllister stated that nothing beyond the general routine had been transacted. The election of officers consumed most of the time. AH of the present incumbents were reelected. They are M. J. Winn, president; E. Corrl-gan, vice-president; W. J. OBrien, treasurer, and W. J. McAllister, secretary. But the subject did not come up for consideration. It was also thought that William T. Shannon, principal owner of the Essex Park racetrack at Hot Springs, would make application for permission to conduct a fall or winter meeting, but he failed to do so and simply informed the members that in the event he deemed it expedient to race at the Vapor City track he would make his intentions known at the next meeting of the association to be held in January and would then apply for the dates he desired. Dates were allotted to the City Park track at New Orleans, and their officials approved. The new Crescent City organization will begin its meeting o December 10, and race alternately with the old track for a period of two "weeks for the entire season. Parmer, Highland- Park Jockey Club; May Overton, Nashville; W. J. OBrien, Worth, and Secretary McAllister. Most of the members departed for their various homes last night. Messrs. Secretary McAllister reported to the members that the flue of ,000 each assessed against .bookmakers Ed.Alvey arid Sam Stephens for fighting at Churchill Downs at the last meeting held there, had been paid by the belligerents and that they are at present entitled to all the privileges of their fellow bookmakers, on all American Turf Association tracks. Messrs. Corrlgan, Parmer and Scott were appointed a committee on rules with powers to revise and perfect any that they may deem imperfect.
