NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey Minder has signed to ride for the stable of E. J. Gildersleeve at New Orleans. Minder showed at Latonia that he was back to his old form. Herculoid has apparently entirely recovered from his lameness, is doing finely and his owners expect him to be the star of the jumping division next year. Jockey W. Shaw saves his .earnings and is reputed to be the owner of considerably more than 00,000. He is to go to Germany early in February to ride there next year at a 15,000 salaryr Salvidcre has been insured with Lloyds for 0,000, the policy running until the colt arrives in New York next April. He may not be. started until the Sheepshead Bay June meeting opens. Charley Weber, a crack lightweight jockey of a dozen years back, is training trotters at Los Angeles, Cal. His father, Peter Weber, who, in his time raced good horses over Chicago tracks, is now living In New York. Cruzados is as fast as ever, as he demontrated when he worked a half at Oakland last week in :47i. The track, because of the application of a sand dressing, Is not as fast- as it was last year, so the workout was decidedly impressive. District Attorney Baker, who prosecuted the Davis case, attended the Bennings races Saturday and had down several wagers including a winner on Angler.
