As it was bis 208 is one more than Uildebiand rode in 1904, and that was the best record In America un,il the coming of Miller in P.MKi. In three years Nicol has had 2.348 mounts and has ridden 017 winm 00. He is growing heavier rapidly, however, and this may ,»e his last year in the saddle in this country, if, indeed, he is able to finish out this year. The incorrigible Radtke. whose contract was sold by J. O. Keene to Paul .1. Rainey in the early spring for 5.0o. and who was indefinitely ■Oaniadul in Septeonber, after honing been "on the ground" more frequently ,han any other boy during the year, is third in the standing. It is a great pity that he has no better disposition. Laveme Sewell. who lost his life through the falling Of Liclitmess at Aqueduct. November ! , ranked fourth. Next comes Charles- Koerner. a promising lightweight, followed in order by D. Austin and Aubuchon. with Garner, who by many turfmen at New Orleans, is expected to l e the equal if not the superior of Miller in the contest for jockey honors in lfH 7. E. Robinson. M Of the 192 steeplechase jockeys eighty-live won one or more raeeo, Nat Ray again heading the list. In 1905 Ray rode nineteen winners out of fifty-one mounts. He is unquestionably the most finished steeplechase rider ill America. Archibald, who is second in the list, shows vast improvement over his riding in 1905, when he piloted only four winners out of forty-seven mounts. Hoeston, who is third, was not in the list, of 1905. Dupee has shown some improvement, likewise McIIenry. It was E. Morri- I sons first year at cross-country riding. He did exceptionally well. Oaylor. who was second to Ray in 1905. took a big slump.
