ABOUT THE TWO-YEAR-OLDS. Leonardsdale. in the stable of II. T. Criffin at Oakland, is one of the sixteen that were east off from James R. Keenes Castloton Stud as yearlings list fall. The fad that he was foaled May 5 probably had much to do with his being sent to the sales ring. He is by St. Leonards, out of Inner-dale and therefore a half brother to Dalesman, and there have been many poorer racers than Dalesman. The Bagged OavaHer is another half brother to this colt, and The Ragged Cavalier was a pretty good jumper. Mr. Crittin got Leonardsdale for 8106 Raleigh was bred at Rancho del Paso and J. . Keene got him last June for 2.".. He is a February foal. He is by Bassetlaw. out of Graoine. a daughter of Surinam and iertrude. by Sotnnus. Qracine was bred by John Mackey. She was never raced. Her first foal. Gracolle. went into the stud without being trained while her second was drowned before it was old enough to keep out of the wet. Gertrude, the date of Graciae, is an Australian mare and was a winner in that country. She is the dam of Diinsbro and Creole Jim. Alisan. in the stable of J. M. Henry at New Orleans, was bred in Ehnendorf Stud and is n half sister to the old campaigner Montanic and Himern. Her dam. Walnut, is out of Wanda III., the dam of these good racehorses Challenger and Major Daly. Alisan cost Mr. Henry 00 as a yearling. She is a March foal. Winola, in the stable of W. IE Snyder at Now Orleaus. is a full sister to Phyllis A., and Bemay. and cost her owner $.VK at the sale of the Adelbert Stud youngsters last July. Queen Melba was bred in II. T. Oxnards Blue Bidge Stud in Virginia and was sold to James Mc-Laughitu for 8SSS last September. She is a half sister to the speedy Brush Ip and Missing Link. Miss Laudensan, the dam of Queen Melba, never raced, but her dam was the good racemare Eliza both I... by Woodlands, out of Ballet, dam of Thundercloud, Peg Weaaagtoat, Modesty, Lady Long-Ad low. etc. SahadO was bred at Rancho del Paso. He is a half brother t« So Be, Dashing Charlie. Rionzi. Red Pat. Salaire dam id Columbia Girl. Audacity dam of St. Geiuaala, and Crsula dam of Sol. Man-hattaa ami llasoero. Fred Bnrlew gave 8691 tec Ssbado last June. He is an April foal. Antoiae, for which "Frisco" Gardner paid 8286 last July, was bred by A. G. Fonda, of Louisville. Ky. He is by I.issak. out of Volyotlien. a lull Bister t" Major Mausir. one of the remarkable campaigners of the past decade. Count Reinferd comes from R. H. MeCartCT Potters Request Stud in New Jersey. lie is by llanibeati. out of Waste, a sister to Wasteful and a daughter of Squanderer, a might., good racemare. which also threw Squall and Lady l.avis. There is plenty of Leamington sad Lexington blood on the dams side in this coit. w. H. Irate, who is bate rented with W. II. Bayder, bought him for 8386.
