CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE ANDREW SELLING STAKES. The Andrew Stakes is an event of recent institution, its first running having taken place in 1JK12. when it was called the Adam Andrew Stakes. Subsequently the name was shortened to the Andrew Stakes and its distance reduced from 1 1-lti miles to the sprinting distance of ti 1-2 furlongs. Every one of its winners has been a horse of great speed and it was in this event that John A. Scott made the California record for the distance.
