1 f f e n U r r TEXT OF THE TENNESSEE BILL. — The text of the anti-betting bill which was introduced iu the appec house of the Tennessee Legis-; lature by Senator Lou Faust, of Hamilton County, last Wednesday, is as follows: . "A bill to be entitled An act to prohibit gambling on horse races. "Section 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of the state of Tennessee, That any person or per-[1 sons, or cori orations, wbe, as owners, lessee or otherwise, shall keep or have under his, their or its ; control or management, any room, hall or house, or a track, path, road or course, whether within or without an inclosure, for the purpose of encourag-t ing, promoting, aiding or assisting in any betting or wagering upon any ktad ot ~jT horse race, or where I ai any al any :" or OT of of « * in in nor W " so si ji ai Bl W in !■ at e " P • or ■ » ■ a t " 1* in * iu ,: s ° i « r l ct or wager is permitted to be made upon horse race or races, whether by bookmaking, auction pools. That any person Hiis state who shall make any bet or wager u|kiii the result of any horse race or races, whether said race be run, paced or trotted within this state or elsewhere, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall lie fined not less than ?"i0 nor more than 69, and imprisoned in the county workhouse for a period of not less than three months nor more than twelve months. Sec 4. Be it further enacted, That this act take effect from and after its passage, the public welfare requiring it."
