NOTES OFTHE TURF. Elf is again iu foal to Ben Brush. Whimsical will face this year iu the name of the Siwanoy Stable. Queen of Sheeba will run in the name of John H. Campbell this year. The stallion Peep o Day is now at J. S. Barbees farm near Lexington, Ky. Nostromo, the bay gelding, foaled in 1903, by Dr. MacBride — Grace Lee. is dead. Coy Maid and Hermitage are to race in the name of the Kenilworth Stable this year. A. J. Gorey will train Old Honesty himself this year. He will have also four two-year-olds. Among the foals expected at Elmendorf Stud are the first of the get of that good racehorse Africander. To fill the vacancy occurring with the death of the late A. J. Cassatt, F. C. Bishop has been elected a member of the Jockey Club. Reelit, the two-year old full brother to Bill Curtis. Ivy Plaudit — Strathreel. for which Fred Bur-lew paid $:i.000 last summer, is dead. Charles A. Hayden. of Boston, has been elected a steward of the National Steeplechase aud Hunt Association to succeed E. V. R. Thayer, resigned. J. B. Haggin announces that he lias made an agreement with Sydney Paget as to Cairngorm for the racing of this year and with A. J. Joyuer as lo tlie racing of Cressina for 1907. Hyphen, the eight year old bay slallion by Himyar — Semaphore, has gone to Mexico to do service on the ranch of a wealthy breeder in Chihuahua. He was sold to the Mexican gentleman by Captain Harry Brown. H. Brown, who rode with considerable success in the colors of the late Marrus Daly, and who rode for several years and has been handling yearlings at "Lucky" Baldwins ranch in California, has decided to become a steeplehcase rider aud will apply to the eastern governing body for a license. It transpires that Work, the dam of Work-a-Day, was narrowly saved from membership in the outcast list of tlie Breeders Protective Association. George H. Whitney sent her to the sales rlngand a representative of tlie Breeders Protective Association bid 0O for her. L. C. Fant raised it 5 and got tlie mare. After Work-a-Days victory at New Orleans, Mr. Whitney paid a good bonus to get the niare hack to Melrose Farm.
