j i [ • i i i • FILIGRANE FOURTH IN THE SIRE LIST. Filigrane, which stands fourth in the sire list for ItdC, chiefly through the | erforinances of Ac- countant. the splendid son of Reckon, is now eleven years old and is at the Bowling Brook Stud, near Middlehurg, Md., where he was bred by the late R. W. Walden. His sire was Galore, which the Messrs. Morris brought to this country from Eng-l land and his dam was Fillette. by Kingfisher, which whs bred by the late August Belmont, father of the present Chairman of the Jockey Club. Filigrane*s career on the turf was brief, but he was a good racehorse. He carried the color* of the Messrs. He was retired to the stud at Bawling Brook in the spring of 1900 and his first foals were dropped the next year to race as two-year-olds in 190X Knowledge, out of Minerva, was the first these. While it is correctly contended that Reckon imparted much to Accountant and that wiili out Accountant to represent him. Filigrane would not have shown even in the list of sires of winners 0,000 last year, he is a well-bred horse with only foHr spare crops to race for him until this year, when lie will have a dozen more two-year-olds, all out of good mares, hut none l»elter than Reckon.
