JAKE SANDERS SCARES EM. EIGHT OF THE ENTRANTS DECLINE HIS COMPANY AT OAKLAWN. Fandanqo Wins the Race for Younqsters— Skyward Purse Is Protested — Salvisa Is Destroyed. Hot Springs. Ark.. February 7. — The weather was fine today and as a consequence the attendance at Oaklawn was the largest of the week. The quieting of tbe political disturbances also had much to do with swelling the crowd. The news from Little Rix-k Has afternoon and this evening has encouraged turfmen to the belief that the Amis bill will be de-tealed when it comes up in the lower house of the legislature tomorrow and that the meeling will go 011 here for the full sixty days. The horses racing today were a mediocre lot. but seine of the contests were exciting. The most interesting race from a horsemans point of view was the opening dash in which fifteen youngsters started. There were many in the field that went to the post lor the first time and their iierfornianeos were eager h watched. There was nothing sensational to the running. Fandango was away running and showed bei heels for the entire trip to the others, winning in hollow fashion by live lengths from Dandy Dancer. Rustle probably ran the best race of the lot as she was away in .111 outer position, had to lose much groand by going wide and finished with a great burst of s].eoil. Jake Sanders was dropped into a soft spot, seared oat eigiit of the entrants and beat the other seven, lie made good with little trouble. The longest priced winner of the afternoon came In the last race when Skyward, at 20 to 1, led all the way and won cantering from Cadillac. C. I. Stevens. owner of Cadillac, objected to the payment of the parse to J. .T. Flannigan on the grounds that Skyward had carried live pounds less than the conditions called for. although he had up the carded weight. The judges have taken the protest under advi-elilenl. Jockey D. Riley is he latest rider to join the colony here. He arrived from California and will do most of the riding for P. T. Chinii. Barrisa, which was eat down in her race yesterday, had to be destroyed today. II no more rain falls the track should be fast tomorrow.
