OAKLAND TRACK GETS A DRENCHING. Results. However. Prove Satisfactory — Pontotoc and Romaine Are Held at Post. Oakland, Cal., March 4.— The form reversals which cropped up with painful regularity during the past ten days have apparently ceased. The results of toii.iy ajcrc generally satisfactory. Aside from the victory of Hidden Sentiment in the tirst race, which the public accepted with cheerful indifference, tirst, second and third choices monopolized the honors. Wet weather prevailed and after the fourth race the track was almost sloppy. A solitary case of rough riding, that of C. Williams on Cardinal Sarlo in the lifth. resulted in the culprit being lined 0 by the stewards. In tl.e fourth race, Pontotoc and Romaine were held at the pi st by the assistant siaileis and bath got away badly. This handicap only made the defeat of the former possible. Probabilities point to a heavy, or at least slow track tomorrow afternoon, but many good horses have been entered and the racing should prove of ■aperiar order, each good ones as Beaa, Lake view.
