JOCKEY KOERNERS NARROW ESCAPE. Prince Maqnet Runs Away with Him and Bolts Amonq the Harrows. Oakland. Cal.. March !. — The augmented attend auee at the Oakland race course today was largely due to improved weather and track conditions. The card, barring the reappearance of J. O. Keenes Raconteur in the introductory sprint, was featureless and uninteresting. Raconteur qualified brilliantly for Saturdays big juvenile fixture, the Undine Slakes, at a half-mile, in which he meets the un-beatea Firestone. This i air are voted real cracks by the local experts. The suddenly improved Vinton scored easily in the second, lackey Koeraer, who had the mount on Prince Magnet in the fourth, narrowly escaped serious injury in the runaway of two miles that fid- lowed the finish of the race. The crazy animal ran two miles the reverse way of the track, his side scraping the outside fence al nearly every stride. Koeraera position was perlloaa in the extreme and when the horse finally darted into the chute, where the harrows are itored, he had no alternative but drop off or Ik* killed and he chose the former. The jockey had a hud fall and rolled over and over again, lying quite still for several moments. He filially recovered and rode iu the next race at two miles in which, however, he showed extreme weakness ami inahilitv lo do Illusion jusiice. I.. Williams has been released by S. C.
