NOTES OF THE TURF. Hermitage is getting a preparation for the Carter Handicap. Frank Weir is pointing Dr. Gardner f.rr the Excelsior Handicap. Henry Srtencer has Iteen granted a li.vnsc to ride on the eastern tracks. Handzarra. it is ex|tected by Frank Weir, will l e able to carry her speed further this year. S. S. Howland has htca appointed steward to represent the Jockey Club at the Penning spring meeting. The two-year olds entered for the Cincinnati Tr.iiliy. to lie inn at the Latonia sprin.tr meeting, mimlter 130. Jack Goldsboroiigh intends to race Flip Flap in the weight for age races through the summer and fall in the east. Grapple will race at Aqueduct in preparation for the Metropolitan Handicap, in which he was victorious last year. Far West is in superb condition for his training. but it is not expected that he will be at his best Itefore the Belmont 1ark meeting.
