EASTERN HORSES ARE BACKWARD. "Lhc bersea at the Long Island tracks should lie three weeks further advanced than they are." says the Morning Telegraph. ••They are backward lie cause we have had snow and ice in the hist fortnight of February and the first two weeks of March that should have come in December and January. The seasons seem to lie changing ami many horse men are of the opinion that it would be advantageous to the horses to lop fifteen days off the front end of the regular racing season and add them to the tail end, making May I the opening day and December 1 the closing one."
