i :l : I ! : I FIRE AT THE SUNDAY TRACK. Xew Orleans. La.. March 10.— The Suburban race track, siiuated in McDonoghville. a short distance above Algiers, was threatened with deslruct ion this I afternoon. The grandstand was saved but all af the stables, aliout MS stalls, wire ilc-iroyed. The loss is estimated by President Boiipricli al lO.Ootl; partially insured. Tlie lire started about 2:::o oclock in the kitchen j of one of the siables. An alarm was immediately , turned in and the Algiers and McDonoghville en- I gines responded. There are no water pipes to the track and the engines had to acjeaal on water from barge ditch. The firemen let the stables go and 1 exerted themselves on the grandstand, which wa-limilly saved.
