QUERIDO WINS THE CHESTER CUP. Another French Victory in England — Winner Is Ridden by Johnny Reiff. London. May s. — For the second time this year a horse has come across the channel from France to capture one of Englands big races. At the Chester meeting today the Chester Cup. having a value of 2,730, for three year olds and upward. at ;i Im m t two and one quarter miles over the old Up course, was won by Monsieur Maurice Cail-laults four year old bay colt, Querido, by Son o* Mine Quay Side. The winner was ridden by Johnny Reiff. the American jockey, who came over from France for the occasion. Thus the race carried a tri-country interest. Queridos margin at the finish was a length and a half in front of R. C. Thompsons five-year-old RibianI, by Child-wick- -Goldmine. W. M. G. Singers seven year obi Toi|N int. by Trenton — Doucaster Beauty, was third, with Lord Derbys Bridge of Canny, ridden by Danny Maher. fourth. There were twelve starters. The odds against Qnerido were 0 to 4. The other notable French victory this year was Obs second triumph for M. Ephrussi in the Lincolnshire Handicap. March 19.
