The races all ■■lYrcfl l the wholesale scratching;; except those for two-year -olds. The first one of these lost, seven and in lie other five declined, but as nineteen were carded for each race, they were not missed. The scratching* were due principally to t lie condition of the track. It was sloppy from last nights downpour. The day was a gloomy one and the attendance light An otherwise dull afternoons sport was enlivened considerably liy a dead heat in the fifth race and I lie defeat of n heavily hacked favorite liy a 56 Ml 1 shot in the two -yeat old race for lillies and getting*. The fifth race was I selling affair and the result appeared to lay between Tony Bonero and Shenandoah. A tew days ago Shenandoah just got up to beat Tony Bonero, but the latter had ■ greater pull in the weights today and he was made ■ strong choice and backed from 7 t« B to 4 to r . slienati doah was well sniiported by the !ates crowd, Which generally backs the horses from the stalde of Phil T. fhiun. The race was between the pail at all stages, but after turning into the stretch. Shenandoah assumed a lead which if seemed would land liim an easy winner. After gctiing the lead, however, Musgrave took matters easily and Tony Bonero, Itecronsbr ridden t y ■■ Ougaii, got 1 l brad in front when ■ atateeilth ont. From this point on the race was sensational. The horses were running very elMK to each other and striding la perfect union. Shenandoah gradually cut down the lead Tony Bon cro had taken through Musgraves carelessness and the pair passed the judges stand on exactly een terms. After a few minutes parlay it was decided to divide the purse. With proper energy on the part of Musgrave. Shenandoah would have won. In the third race, Crack Shot, which went hack in the l.etiiug from ir. to 1. to M to 1, got up in a drive to beat the favorite, Sinirker, by a half length. Crack Shot is bred to run In the mud. being by Star Shoot -Oflte Iion. but evidently had not shown anything to warrant support, or he would never have been allowed to run loose by his asiute owner A. I.. Aste, who is credited with having bet on Sinirker. It was not a good day for the favorites. Beginning with Kings Daughter, ■which was hacked at odds on to beat Sir Toddington and Brince Hamburg, the favorites were l owled over until the last lace was reached, when Hon Creole showed a sen saiional iM-rfortuance by running away from his opponents in the first half mile, to win all alone. It was reported at the track today that Dishabille is a very sick horse, which accounted for her withdrawal from the New Rochelle Handicap. With two Important stakes to lie disposed of tomorrow, and such horses as Pretension. Heaslip, Ampedo: Banyah. Senator Beckham. Marion Moore; B.lla ONeill, Laughing Byes, Treasure; Saracinesca, 1cter Ban, Senator Ciay; Kssex. Garrett, Patago-niau: 1limnap.
