VICTORIA DAY ATWOOMINE SEAGRAM HORSES CAPTURE THREE OF THE SEVEN RACES. Inferno Wins Toronto Cup and Will Start in the Suburban — Johnnie Blakes Victoria Stakes — Great Sport. Toronlo. Out.. May 24.— Pully 20.000 people celebrated Victoria Day at the Woodbine track this afternoon. The crowd in the stands, lawns and betting ring were so dense that al times if was almost impossible to move alnnif. The card was probably the best ever offered by the Ontario Jockey Club. There were seven races, including four -luk-s. and over 0,000 was distributed iu prize money. The weather was clear and mild and the track iu its best condition. Mr. Seagram was highly elated over the success of his horses and after Infernos victory in the Toronlo Cup announced that. 1 he Havoc— BOB Ino horse would be a sure starter iu the Suburban Handicap in which he is carded to carry 1 IO pounds. The Toronto Cap was the feature of the card. Temmersire, Glimmer, Toareane, Tom Dofaua and Mr. Seagrams Man. Chance were withdrawn, leaving six good handicap horses to battle for the cup. which was worth .:.70 to the winner. inferno. proved an easy winner. MeDanlel kept him in reserve r 1 the early pari of the journey and in a sharp drive the Seagram horse showed his superiority by beating out Lotus Eater a couple of lengths. with Minnie Adams third. The Woodbine steeplechase furnished a chapter of accidents, of eleven starters five fell at different stages of the journey. Esterjoy fell near the paddock gate with Incantation tumbling at the same place. Both horses afterward jumped over the rail. Keterjoy sustained no injury but Incantation broke a leg and had to be destroyed. Jockeys Nieol and HcDaniei carried off the riding honors, the former piloting two of tin- winners, while McDaniel rode three.
