Aphrodite, a good horse today, left her opponents with a rush and opened up a wide icad in the llrst furlong, maintained her advantage without much effort and ran unextended all the wav. Desideratum finished more gamely than usual and held the others safe all through the last quarter. Mtrrimac showed sped, but tired and swerved over to the inside at the sixteenth post and interfered with Darkuight. The latter ran in much improved form. Sal tram liiiishcd well. Gene Wood quit. . Richard Jr. showed improvement, but was tiring in the final drive. Merry : Maker finished well and would have been third in a few more strides. Niblick was much used in setting the pace and had nothing left to stall off the winners challenge. Nellie Burn ran on the outside of the leaders all the way.
