HIRAM PIERCE DIES AT OAKLAND. Lexington, Ky., July 22. Clem Pierce, manager of John E. Maddens Hamburg Place, has been advised that his brother, Hiram T. Pierce, died in Oakland, Cal., Saturday. Hiram and Clem were both jockeys in their youth. Their sister is the wife of Charles T. Patterson, who developed the great horse. Ornament, and who is now training for John E. Madden.
