Coy Maid, away poorly, trailed to the baekstretch, where she moved up rapidly into the lead when straightened for home and, after seemingly having the race won, unexpectedly succumbed right at the end. Cressina, from a striding start, ran In close early pursuit of the pacemaker, but was crowded back after going the first quarter and pocketed and forced to go around, could not quite get up after a wide stretch turn and probably was best. Sister Frances, from an outside start, was carried wide and pocketed, loomed up menaclugly in the stretch and tired finally. Won driving; second the same; third easily. Iiuckman made the running for a mile and a half, then began tiring but, after relinquishing the lead to Blue Pigeon, came on again and won a lucky nice after the latter nearly went down at the last ottstncle. Blue Pigeon, a good horse today, was reserved close up until a half mile from the finish, where he drew out as if the pacemaker was anchored, but landed badly at the last jump and lost a dozen lengths, which beat him. Essex II. was a forward and game contender throughout, is a first-class fencer anil fast on the Hat. The Doctor is improving and finished well up. Amanda II. failed to stay after strenuous and close early pursuit of Buckman. Dr. Keith was interfered with frequently. Racine II. took the lead at the start, made the running by a wide gap throughout and was never even seriously menaced, but was lucky. Flavigny was away in the rear and pulled up frequently, rau on th extreme outside throughout and, closing an immense gap in the last half into a fast going, but liclaled. second, was probably best. Palette steadily improved her position in the last mile into a lucky third. Sonoma Belle, on the outside all the way, lost considerable ground, then loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but tired finally. Itrancas was a prominent contender for a mile and a quarter. Red Friar retired at the end of a mile and has probably trained olT. Lancastrian, reserved in the rear, was completely hemmed in and securely pocketed and had no chance whatever in the last six furlongs to get through. Dekaber showed speed for a mile and the same applies to Betsy Biuford. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Incorrect weight in entries Dekaber, 10S. Heknows was luckily and forwardly reserved in behind the two pacemakers to the stretch, where lie drew out in decisive style and is of superior class evidently. Half Sovereign set a very fast pace for nearly five furlongs before she succumbed and was a game second. Live AVire ran in close pursuit of the winner to the turn, where he bore out sharply, losing much ground, otherwise lie would probably have been see-cm!, as he was closing up fast. Ormuz wns well up throughout and going fast at the end. Magazine helped force the pace to the stretch, where he quit badly. Bolando trailed far iu the rear early, but finished fast and Is promising. Royal Onyx set a still pace to midway of the stretch, where he tired under a bad ride and should have been second. Savable was coming like a shot at the end and ran a better raee than the figures show. Flaxman, away poorl3, closed a big gap and is extra good.
