Gowan met Interference early, but closed up rapidly on the last turn and finally wore the leader down In a long closing drive. Rosimiro had no mishaps, rah lapped on the pacemaker throughout, heading lier by a few inches in the last stride under a vigorous ride and Is of the Improving kind. Desirous outbroke and outpaced the others to the last sixteenth and finished a game third. Alex Grant, away badly on the extreme outside, closed a tremendous .gap and finished pinned in on the inside, but going like a shot. Hans finished on the extreme outside close up and inade an extra good effort. Masquerade, undoubtedly- u coming ctackerjack, ran prominently for five furlongs and tired as if short. Blue Pigeon blundered .frequently, but ran pronii-riently throughout and was a game second. Parson Kelly maintained a forward position from the start, dropped back at the half and then came again with unexpected reserve speed. Guardian II., excessively urged into a long lead, made the running for a mile and a half before he succumbed under a bad ride. Judgo OGin, after trailing- in the rear for the major part of the race, was gaining - fast at the end. Lad of Langden, prominently placed and reserved in the early running, finished with a belated rush under a badly judged ride. Tony Bonero outbroke and out paced the others to the far turn and tired after a sharp brush: with the favorite. San Alviso. outpaced Vaiiy, closed up steadily in the last lihlf. Berwick was a forward contender for six furlongs, but failed lo stay and evidently was not keyed up for a long journey. Esteban, after trailing, closed a big gap in the Ifst half. Martin Doyle broke slowly and improved his position rapidly on the inside, was then patiently reserved in jthe middle running, drew out into a long lead on the last turn- and won as his rider pleased. Orbicular was In a forward position- from the start, loomed up menacingly on the far turn, but was forced back un fcxpectedly at a Critical moment, loslug much ground, then came with a belated end -rush into a fast going second. Moonshine, prominently placed for the first half, was afterwards shuflled back repeatedly and then moved tip on the extreine outside and, finishing gamely, ran an extra good race. Lord Lovat, away badly, closed a big gap into a fast going fourth and is improving. Miss Crawford retired unexpectedly tifter setting the pace to the half. Tommy AVaddell ran in close pursuit to the half, where he drew out with a rush, but as quickly succumbed when challenged by the winner. Ampedo was never dangerous and ran a bad race. Escutcheon, after close pursuit of lite winner for five furlongs, tired finally. Clolsteress held her position well throughout and is Improving. Teucress, after-forward and strenuous pursuit of the leaders, quit unexpectedly in the stretch. Akbar ! linished well. Sayaule, got away poorly. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. .
