ROWES EXAMPLE TO TRAINERS. It took four cars to transport the horses and equipment of James R. Keenes extensive establishment from Sheepshead Bay to Saratoga. Trainer James Rowe traveled in the car with Peter Pan and Ballot and several times during the trip he looked over the horses in the other cars. The horses made the trip without accident or incident. This example of Rowe, the most successful trainer of racers in the United States, if not in the world, in traveling with his horses might well be followed by other horsemen who are wont to attribute his great success to blind luck. If some of them were as closely attentive to business as the developer of Sysonby, Peter Pan, Ballot and Colin they would be better off. The average trainer nowadays, however, leaves his horses to travel from place to place under the eye of an irresponsible groom, while ho seeks a luxurious parlor car.
