Veil, llatfooled at the- start, closed up in the last half into an impressive second. Prince Hamburg, a forward contender to-the fctretch, tired as if short. Hat Slasterson made up considerable ground at the end. Kings Daughter, from a Uying start, crossed over and forced tin: others to pull up, but weakened after a fast half and was short. Handzarra held on well. Monet finished well up and was probably qualifying. Gus Stiaus, game and a rater, was always in forward contention, but lost ground frequently at the obstacles and was a fast going second. Amanda II., badly interfered witli when Guardian II. fell at the Liverpool, closed a gap on the leaders and then tired. Follow On was also interfered with at the Liverpool, but ran a poor race. The Squire, outpaced and under pressure to keep bis position, finished stoutly. Sanguine, in close quarters, held on well, but is best in mud. Slarbles was away very badly and pocketed. Dandelion ran in close pursuit of the pacemaker to the last turn, lost ground by going wide and wore the I-ader down finally, getting up in the last stride of a lucky win. Running Water dashed through on the inside on the last turn into a long lead and was easing up all through the stretch, hut failed to get going quick enough and was caught napping at the end. Tokalon, far out of it for a mile, closed up steadily and finished a game third. Beacon Light, badly outpaced and far in the rear for a mile, also came with a belated end rush. Cabochon made the running at a fast pace for a mile and then retired and was probably short. Smiling Tom, suddenly improved and having a lucky inside start, drew out on the first turn and was never pcriously menaced afterwards. Hyperion 11. broke slowly, but steadily improved bis position and got -up for second place in the last stride of a fast rush after crowding those on the inside. Zipango ran in forward pursuit of the leaders throughout and finished a game third. Wes, in nearest and strenuous pursuit of the winner, tired finally, was, however, crowded and forced to pull up in the last couple of strides and is extra good. AlpenniarjJien, away badly, had no chance, was shuffled back on the first turn and badly messed about. Arinio got away badly and was carried out on the first turn. Tom Dolan was unfit and liis race should not be considered. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Fultonville established a small lead at the start and held it to the last stride, .but, succumbed in a weak finish. Sliss Norfolk, away poorly, closed a big early gap, but weakened in thermal stride. Bolando, away badly, closed a big gap and is promising. Norbitt made up ground steadily In the last half. Dorante closed un fast. Latona was crowded back on the last turn.
