Ballot Box, on the outside all the way, covered more ground than anything in the race. Loupania, a keen contender for the entire trip, set a very fast pace and ncid on gamely. Sally Preston left the barrier fast and dashed into a winning lead on the first turn and set a fast pace throughout, but had to be shaken up at the end to stall off Hawkama. The latter finished gamely under punishment and was wearing the winner down at the end. Kelpie was sharply cut off on the first turn and met with repeated interference, then came with a great stretch run. but was driving hard at the end lo stall off Sailor Girl. Lights Out was hard ridden in the last half, but was unable to get to the leader. Arian fenced well, but was outrun all the way. Cardigan stumbled aud misruled liis rider. Bilberry refused at the second jump aud Bank Holiday at the third. Russell A. lost his rider at the fifth jump. Ohnet ran out at the eighth. Gold Run fell at the thirteenth and Father Catchem at the fourteenth.
