NOTES OF THE TURF. George C- Bennett Is carrying out his threat to quit as a breeder and will sell all his stallions and mares, as well as his racing string, this fall. . J. B. Brady has decided that Olseau will not train again and .the Ornus KIttie Gunn horse lias been sent to Kentucky to join Water Light as a stallion. An oddity among the Spokane, Wash., jockeys, but a clever little rider, is R. Harrington, who I weighs but CO pounds and often has to carry 40 pounds of lead in the saddle. He Is called "Doughnuts," and rides for J. Coffey. D.. A. Ross has arrived at Oakland, Cal., with Massa, Mechlin, The Mist, May L. N., and others. Walker and McKenuip, J. O. and G. H. Keene, J. F. Clifford, W. P. Magrane and E. J. Ramsey are also in San Francisco getting ready for racing. Jake Holtinan will most likely officiate as starter for the first week of -New Orleans, as Mars Cassidy will be busy at Benning. Mr. Holtmau received permission from President Tom Williams yesterday, and Dick Dwyer will officiate at Oaklands opening on November 9.
