"PARSON" PARKES, ENGLISH TRAINER. London, Eng., October 15. One of the characters on the British turf is "Parson" Parkes, who trains for W. H. Pansom and. others at Epsom. Mr.. Parkes is a regularly ordained minister. Shortly after his ordination, in 1SS9, lie became vicar of a parish in Leicestershire, but the call of the turf was too strong for him and he forsook the pulpit to become a trainer of thoroughbreds. It Is not known how he ranked as a parson, but Parkes Is a good trainer.
