Lad of Langden beat the barrier, but was taken back quickly and saved patiently to the stretch, where he made good finally. Summer Cloud, excessively urged in nearest pnrsuit of the fast pacemaker, succumbed to the .second best horse right at the end and is a coming good one. Ramrod, well up from the start, easily took third place and is improving. Park Row got away poorly and closed a big .gap, but quit at the end. Kestrel finished well. Lachc-sis closed up well in the last half and is worth remembering. Constantia failed to stay, set a stiff pace for six furlongs and quit badlv. Scratched 71403 Al H. Islam ran forwardly in the early stages, was reserved in the middle running, then came at the end with a game rush. Dr. Keith also ran prominently, but tired, in the closing drive. Guardian II. led for a mile on sufferance and was outclassed. Knight of Elway trailed for a mile, and moved up menacingly, then quit unexpectedly in the last half. Garrett is very uncertain and fell at the end of a mile. The winner was entered for ,000: no bid. Throckmorton was a prominent and game contender throughout and held on well at the end. Halket finished fast on the inside and so did Robert Cooper, which closed a big gap. Notasulga showed brilliant speed, but tired in the closing driv. Bouquet ran poorly. Uanoscara worked through quickly into a forward contending position, but was shuffled back 011 the far turn, then came from the rear in the last furlong and made good with a great rush. Earl G., well up from the start, hugged the inside rail and, saving ground on the turn, drew out in the last sixteenth like the winner, but tired finally. Don Enrique, away badly and crowded back at the start, closed a big gap and loomed up midway of the stretch, but tired right at the end. Johnnie Blake, crowded to the rear and pulling up repeatedly, closed an immense gap in the last three furlongs. Troublemaker steadily improved his position from a poor start, but pulled up lame. Preen showed brilliant speed for six furlongs, but failed to stay. Frank Lubbock closed a gap: Fancy tired finally after a good race. Grimaldi was speedy, but short. AArelbourne trailed within striking distance all the way and got up for third place in the last stride of a splendidly game finish. Perseverance was a forward contender and held on steadily throughout.
